HOW TO JOIN AN EXISTING ASSEMBLY

Find an Assembly in Missouri

In Missouri review the Contacts section of this website. If there is a Coordinator, then the county does not yet have an assembly and your involvement is needed to help.

If there is no Coordinator, look in the white section below the Coordinators list to find a county listed under Communication Secretaries. If one appears for the county of interest, then it means that county has an assembly, and the communication secretary can be contacted for further information

If there is no Coordinator, and no Communication Secretary, then contact info@AmericanCivicsEducation.org for more information

Text of Six-Minute Explanation

We THE People, Sharing the Great Awakening

Many patriot individuals and groups have been on the battlements fighting the foe.  This has been needed and is having some effect.  However, the true nature of the enemy is not clear, and the weapons it is using are silent, secret, wide-spread, and extremely effective.  These patriots are using only the weapons with which they are familiar and may not be aware of the weapons that will win the war.

The true structure and authority of our government has been hidden from us.  Now we are awakening to realize that the people have more power than they have believed.  A series of free training presentations are now being provided that describe our true government structure, which includes jural assembly and grand juries, and how we can use it to enforce laws and remove corrupt people from office. We THE People, in jural assembly, can empanel people’s grand juries which can address the enemy’s Achille’s heal—their fraud, corruption, and immorality.

Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution states, “The United States shall guarantee to every State in this Union a Republican Form of government…”  Most people do not understand what this actually looks like, how it works, why we do not have it, and how it can be restored.

These free two-part seminars on the true structure and authority of this government that has been hidden from us are being made in every county in Missouri, multiple times, as well as in other states.  This is NOT theory—over 28 states right now are actively engaged in restoring our original Republic that we lost in 1861.  Missouri is one of 13 states that are in the lead.  Missouri assembled de jure November 20, 2021 and held a people’s grand jury.  Notices ran in the USA Today, and were sent to the Governor and Attorney General of Missouri.  St. Louis County assembled August 7, 2022.

What is occurring is re-assembling our de jure Republic government in each state.  WE THE PEOPLE are assembling and can call grand juries.  These assemblies and grand juries have the lawful right to (a) protect the innocent, (b) indict the guilty, and (c) audit and oversee government.  The assembly determines the will of the people, which is conveyed to the government through directives, and enforced through the people’s grand juries.  For over 150 years this worked in America—the first grand jury in 1636 issued 100 indictments.

The first presentation is introductory, designed to get everyone to the same foundational starting point.  It takes about 90 minutes with a mid-point break and is followed by a Q&A session.  Most attendees find that the information they receive is life-changing in nature—they will never be the same again.

The second presentation is a little more extensive, taking about 120 minutes to cover sovereignty, common law, jural assembly, and a timeline of significant historical events; followed by a Q & A.

People need to be on-time, since there is so much information that missing even a little, puts one behind the learning curve.  And this is really directed only at patriots who are awake—the general public is suffering from a mass psychosis that blinds them to the revelation of truth that would save them.

Be aware that there are fraudulent imposters purporting to do the same thing, or urging individual emancipation from the government corporation.  How this process is different, and why, is explained.  There is only one correct way to do this to have a true standing in law.

The presenter resides in Wildwood, MO.  He is now retired, but has a varied background in education, business, banking, and financial systems consulting.  He is a long-term Sunday school teacher.  He is now spending almost all of his time devoted to restoring our Republic.

A website is provided that contains the schedule of presentations being given, contact information, and sample resources with hyperlinks.  Those who finish the two-part seminar are given access to the Community section filled with references, quotes, hyperlinks to videos and on-line resources, reading lists, and other material to support continued self-education.  It is AmericanCivicsEducation.org.

“Who will govern the governors? There is only one force in the nation that can be depended upon to keep the government pure and the governors honest, and that is the people themselves. They alone, if well informed, are capable of preventing the corruption of power, and of restoring the nation to its rightful course if it should go astray. They alone are the safest depository of the ultimate powers of government.” – Thomas Jefferson

Mission Statement

“WE, THE PEOPLE, claiming our God-given Rights based in Christian Principles, intend to return and maintain the governance of Missouri, a Free and Independent nation=state to the status proclaimed by the Magna Carta, the Declaration of Independence, the Original Organic Constitution dated 1787 and amended 1791.  These God-given Rights are for ALL PEOPLE, realizing the only limitation which affects a God-given Right is where there is a conflict between the Rights claimed by two or more sovereign people.”

Critical Issues for Assembly

CRITICAL ISSUES FOR ASSEMBLY

If we are to be successful in restoring our Republic for the united States of America there are certain issues or areas that we must master, or qualities that we must demonstrate.  I have divided them into six major areas.

SPIRITUAL SENSE

The first I will refer to as spiritual sense.  Everything starts with God, our creator.  It is to Him that we look for our salvation.  We all must understand that the battle going on is between good and evil, and that evil cannot stand when good is all powerful.  There is a world-wide spiritual awakening going on where those whose spiritual sense is active are aware.  But human religious doctrines divide us, and the luciferians have been using that divide against us for years.  For example, you might offer a prayer of petition, asking God to do something.  While you are doing that, I am offering a silent prayer of affirmation, an acknowledgement that because God is omnipotent and divine Love, He already knows our needs before we ask Him and has already supplied it.  Are we working at odds?  Not really, because we are both acknowledging where our salvation lies, regardless of separate beliefs about God’s character and how He operates.  We do not need to get into an argument about which doctrine might be correct.  Our founding fathers put all differences aside in order to give us the greatest government structure ever to be seen on this earth.  Thus, it is spiritual sense and not doctrine that we must express.

And another point.  Although our government comes from God, and all of us must be relying on spiritual sense, our assemblies’ operation is secular—without religious basis.  It is God-based, not religion-based.  There is a difference.  Assemblies operate in common law, which involves a whole library of maxims developed by intelligent men over the centuries, founded in common sense given to all of us by God.  We do not operate in canon law—church law—which derives from doctrinal teachings.

MORAL FORTITUDE

Next, we must have moral fortitude.  We must have the strength of conviction to consistently do what is right.  This is the demonstration of what our individual spiritual sense is telling us.  Our government was founded upon the principle that a moral people is required for self-government.  We may have selfish motives, or a personal sense of what we, individually, would like to see.  But at all times the good of the whole must be foremost.  This is not a sacrificing of oneself for the good of the whole—that theory is anathema to common law.  Rather what we are talking about are the two great commandments given to us by God’s messenger, Christ Jesus, who told us we needed to love God and love our neighbor as ourself.  So, we demonstrate the qualities of Love in our assembly work, practice what we preach, hold accountable those who do wrong, and courageously address the issues with honesty, integrity, morality, tenacity—with moral fortitude.  We always conduct ourselves in peace and honor.

One quality very much needed is patience and forbearance with one another.  We are all at different stages of experience and education, and we do not have a lot of experience working together in people’s assemblies.  So, we need to be patient with one another as we all learn this renewed process of self-government.

DISCERNMENT

We would err egregiously if our moral fortitude is used to fight for an immoral cause.  We must exercise discernment, to both recognize and know the difference between right and wrong.  We THE People have been deceived in many, many ways over many years.  We must use our God-given common sense, and our spiritual sense to uncover what has been hidden, to understand what is right, and hold to it; to uncover the wrong, and properly deal with it.  At this point, to fight for the wrong thing, because we did not take the time to investigate the facts in order to discern the truth, would be a terrible tragedy.  We must use discernment.  We must distinguish between the unreal and what is real—the truth.  Know that nothing unreal is true.  And then only act having all of the facts.

The people’s de jure assembly is the body politic that determines the will of the people, which can be conveyed to the public servants in the government doing the work of the people and protecting the people’s rights.  The majority vote that formalizes that will of the people should be supported by an individual’s clear discernment when making that vote.  Every single individual has a duty before they vote of having the moral fortitude to do the right thing, and the practiced discernment to know what the right thing is.  And one vote in a trial jury can make the difference between an innocent or guilty verdict, and the consequence to the defendant affecting his or her life.

EDUCATION

We have determined that education is the key.  Jesus told us that the “Truth will make us free.”  Now he prefaced that with, “If ye follow in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed, and ye shall know the Truth and the Truth will make you free.”  So, we have already stated that spiritual sense is needed—we look to God—and that moral fortitude is needed—follow the word.  A disciple is a student.   So as disciples we are given the promise that we will know the truth.  And the truth will make us free.  There is a great need to search diligently for the truth, the reality.  We must understand history, so as not to repeat the bad, but continue the good.  We must understand common law, which is the glue holding society together in unity.  We must understand how the law is applied, and the rules of operation of our assemblies, our juries, our courts, and our society in general.  And, once we have properly learned, we have a moral obligation to teach.  If we truly love our fellow man, we want him to benefit from knowing the truth.  This is not just a religious tenent, this is our moral fortitude in operation.  This is the required demonstration of Immanuel, or ‘God with us.’  We must learn what we need to know, and then we must teach it to others.

For those just being introduced to this concept of restoring our lost republic and operating in jural assemblies, you should know that the rest of us are doing everything we can to develop educational presentations and materials, to direct others to historical resources, and to encourage self-education.  New members in particular, but all are included, in a requirement to self-educate.  For too many years we have been spoon-fed information from corrupt sources and mind-controlled to simply accept as reality what we are told.  Using our God-given common sense and discernment we can discover for ourselves the reality.  But the tendency to sit back and let others do the work must be dealt with.  Too many, for too many years, have literally sat on the couch and relied on others to do what they should have been doing for themselves.  If you are not individually, actively seeking the truth, you are not fulfilling the role of true citizenship required of a free people.  Those contemplating joining our assemblies must first search out what we are telling you you must understand, and then study it in order to take it to heart.

ORGANIZATION

We need organization.  Everything cannot happen all at once, and we need order, efficiency and effectiveness in our assemblies, so we need structure and rules.  We need rules to follow to protect peoples’ rights while we effectively work together for the common good.  The assembly as a body politic is a deliberative body.  Deliberate means “to fully consider; not impulsive.”  So, we need foundational documents which everyone understands, such as our individual and settlement covenants, we need organizational documents, such as our Formation, Operations & Functions Bylaws, and operational rules, such as Rules of Order.  I like to say that “rules are our tools”.  We all must understand our documents, their meaning and intent, and how they fit together.  If we are to suppress the impulsive, then we must have a process that forces us to effectively, efficiently, and inclusively deliberate.  We all must know the organization and the rules so that we can fulfill our moral obligation to properly participate.   To do what we promise to do when we take our oaths.  The foundation, the organization, and the rules keep us from slipping into anarchy (with no government) or tyranny (too much government).

That moral duty to participate cannot be exercised properly without the proper organization to operate within.  And that organization structure is first created with written documents.  Everyone must realize that words are expressing thoughts.  The language being placed on the paper must properly reflect the thought.  The correct words to be used make a difference.  For example, the word “lawfull” is distinguished from the word “legal”.  They are not synonyms.  Our state covenant contains several pages of definitions—making sure that the use of specific words cannot be misunderstood.  We must be educated in our language, etymology, and grammar beyond what has been so inadequately taught by our schools in recent years.

FOCUS

If we are to be deliberate and not impulsive, then we must focus on what is important.  This focus is the last issue in my categorizations.  We are all aware, in varying degrees of the great harm that has been done, and at this moment is still continuing.  There are many of us involved in the jural assemblies that have sharp personal experience with this harm, and the horrendous evil beliefs behind it.  But our focus cannot continue to be on the harm and on those who have harmful intent.  We have been doing that in varying degrees for many years, without much success in our endeavors.  This was primarily because the entire evil had not been uncovered.  But just because it has been uncovered does not mean that now our efforts will be successful.  The problem is that our tools are not designed to be effective against a tyrannical corporate structure supported by luciferian beliefs and orchestrated by an elite few.  We need to stay focused on the understanding that it is the restoration of our republic that will allow us to remove for all time the tyranny currently being imposed on us. We do not trespass on the corporate structure.  We only communicate with them via public notice.  We do not taunt them or try to retaliate.  What we are doing is using our God-given rights to restore the government of, by, and for the people.  Once that is in place, we will be able to fully exercise our sovereignty and control a government that protects our rights.

It is personally dangerous, and it can also destroy an assembly, to impetuously act against the corrupt corporate structure prematurely.  In fact, once we are fully assembled the de facto government will totally lose its power over us.  Then, the grand juries, using common law, can do their work holding accountable those that have knowingly done harm.

What I am talking about when referring to focus is really a paradigm shift in thought.  We need to start thinking from the standpoint of being free sovereign people, operating within a true republic as the electors.  We are not slaves of a corrupt government rebelling against that tyranny, using common law against statute law.  Now to be able to operate properly, with the proper focus, we need to assemble.  Until we have fully assembled we cannot focus correctly, we do not have the tools we need, and we will not be successful in counteracting the evil.  By not being assembled we are delaying our salvation from the corrupt tyranny.  Every ounce of effort and thought we put in the wrong direction deprives our county to that extent of where we could be if properly focused.

We must concentrate our thought, our energy, and our time on every particular detail needed to properly, lawfully, permanently establish our assemblies and restore our republic.

SUMMARY:

So, in summary, we must rely on God, as our spiritual sense reveals Him to us, for our salvation, our security, our government.  Then we must exercise the moral fortitude to always do the right and to resist the wrong.  To do that we must use discernment to distinguish between right and wrong.  True citizenship requires not just a moral and virtuous people, but also an educated one.  Therefore education, and particularly self-education is a requirement.  But an assembly does not just sit there—it must act.  In order to act there must be organization, which includes a foundational structure upon which it stands, a mechanism to operate, and rules for efficient and effective operation. And that action must be focused in the right direction and in the right way.

The jural assemblies, the de jure grand juries extracted from them, and the militia to protect the people are the three required elements of self-government.  Those who take the step of signing and committing to the jural covenant of office become members of the assembly and qualified electors.  They select our government servants, and from them are selected grand and petit jury members.  It is an honor and privilege to be a member of a de jure assembly.  And it carries with it a solemn responsibility to strive to be the most virtuous and educated we can be.  To be demonstrating our highest sense of right and selflessness.

American State Nationals problems

American State Nationals are students of David Straight and Bobby Lawrence, and may be also influenced by Anne Vander Steele.  To a large extent these people are awake, and definitely understand the deception of the de facto: the birth certificate conversion; the cesta que vie trust; the invalid 14th amendment.  Their good motive is to remove themselves and their family from slavery.  However, what they do is file change of status paperwork with the de facto and establish themselves as “American State Nationals.”  The only way these good people can join an assembly is to un-file all of their paperwork, which they will be extremely reluctant to do, since years of work and study may have been involved.

            Here is the problem:

1. We now know We the People have been terribly deceived in many ways, and one of the main ways some of the deception has been accomplished has been by cleverly convincing us to agree to take on titles, which causes We the People to drop our position of highest authority as woman or man and reduce our authority to whatever the title means inside the BAR created de facto system.  Why would any people want to take on such a reduced position and subject themselves to secret negative routines such that the de facto can run their next deception?

2. Where in the Common Law does the title American States National exists and what does it mean?

3. Where does the title American States National exist in any of our founding documents including the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, the Constitution for the united States of America?

4. Where does the title American States National exist in any of the early Supreme Court decisions which explain that the sovereignty in this country is with We the People?

5. What type of entity is an American States Assembly , who owns it, and where is the founding paperwork?

6. Where is there any evidence that such an entity of this type was ever created by our founders: if there is none, then it is to be considered a new entity, foreign to what our founders created, and, as a new type of entity, how is this new entity not in insurrection to the system of government our founders created?  This could violate 18 USC 911 which has a three-year prison sentence penalty.7. And lastly, without understanding the importance of the de jure assembly the attempts to establish new republics in the states must fail.  No functions and operations and rules to govern, nor settlement covenant, are created and approved, and no unrebutted public notice given, therefore, the assembly has no standing in law.  Only the properly created general jural assembly will survive in the end, but there may be confusion among the people.

Methodical Illusion, Methodical Exposure, by Rebekah Roth

Written as a novel, Methodical Illusion has been excruciatingly researched from an insider’s perspective, utilizing proprietary knowledge of airplanes, universal FAA protocols, standardized fight crew procedures and all hijacking policies. This is the story of 9/11. The shocking ending of Methodical Exposure will leave you knowing that you have finally swallowed the red pill.  Once that occurs there will be no going back to the deception and illusion known as the official government story.

The Falsification of History: Our Distorted Reality, by John Hamer

This book relates the current, insidious plight facing the human race as a direct result of a grand deception that has been imposed upon it for tens of thousands of years if not longer. This has been perpetrated by the systematic, ongoing falsification of history in much the same way as perpetrated by the powers that be in the suspiciously prophetic novel ‘1984’, by George Orwell.

The Falsification of Science: Our Distorted Reality, by John Hamer

Unlike the subject of this book’s predecessor and sister volume, The Falsification of History, science is usually systematically falsified for two quite distinct reasons…

Firstly, as with history it may be falsified for political expediency, that is for the purpose of maintaining and propounding a false paradigm which supports the ongoing political agenda, but secondly and most commonly, science is often falsified for financial gain, usually directly benefitting the ruling Elite corporatocracy in some way.

QUOTATIONS, COURT CASES, ETC

Unalienable Rights

Unalienable Rights are the Inherent, Sovereign, Natural Rights that existed before the creation of the State, and which, being antecedent to and above the State can never be taken away, diminished, altered, or levied by the State, except by Due Process of Law.

Surely the most critical failure of The People is their failure to ensure the teaching and common knowledge of the Unalienable Rights.  If you do not know your Rights, you effectively have none.

The Right to Life, Freedom, Health and the Pursuit of Happiness

The Right to Contract, or Not to Contract, which is Unlimited

The Right to Earn a Living Income by being Compensated with Wages or a Salary in a Fair Exchange for one’s Work

The Right to Travel in the Ordinary Course of one’s Life and Business

The Right to Privacy and Confidentiality, free from Unwarranted Invasion

The Right to Own, and Hold Property, lawfully without Trespass

The Right to Self-Defense when threatened with Harm, Loss, or Deceit

The Right to Due Process of Law, with Notice and Opportunity to Defend

The Right to be Presumed Innocent, suffering no Detention or Arrest, No Search or Seizure, without Reasonable Cause

The Right to Remain Silent when accused to avoid Self-Incrimination

The Right to Equity in the eyes of the Law, and to Equal Representation

The Right to Trial by Jury, being an impartial Panel of one’s Peers

The Right to Appeal in Law against Conviction or Sentence, or both

The Right to Expose Knowledge necessary to one’s Rights and Freedoms

The Right to Peaceful Association, Assembly, Expression, and Protest

The Right to Practice a Religion, and to have Beliefs, of one’s choosing

The Right to Love, and to Consensual Marriage with Children, as a Family

The Right to Security from Abuse, Persecution, Tyranny, and War

The Right to Refuse to Kill under command, by reason of Conscience

The Right to Live in Peace and be left alone when Law-abiding

Common Law in brief

Assemblies operate under common law, not corporate statute law.

  • Common Law is common sense

                         Do no harm

 Do not Trespass (on my property)

  • Common Law Principles:

 There must be an injured party and it cannot be the state.

                         No victim, no crime.

 Goal is to restore the injured party and regain honor.

1901 Supreme Court Decision, Downes vs Bidwell

The Supreme Court has stated that the de jure government offices still exist, but the People have failed to occupy them.

1959 Supreme Court Decision, People v Brautigan

There cannot be a grand jury de facto when there is a grand jury de jure

1992 Supreme Court Decision, US vs Williams

The American grand jury is neither part of the judicial, executive nor legislative branches of government, but instead it belongs to the people.  It is in effect a fourth branch of government, ‘governed’ and administered to directly by and on behalf of the American people, and its authority emanates from the Bill of Rights and it has the power to enforce law and remove people from office.

We the people have been providentially provided legal recourse to address the criminal conduct of persons themselves entrusted to dispense justice.  Thus, citizens have the unbridled right to empanel their own grand juries and present “True Bills” of indictment to a court, which is then required to commence a criminal proceeding..

Juliard v. Greenman 110 U.S. 421 (1984)

There is no such thing as a power of inherent sovereignty in the government of the United States…in this country sovereignty resides in the People, and Congress can exercise no power which they have not by their constitution entrusted to it. All else is withheld.”

Perry v. U.S. 294 U.S. 330 (1935):

In the United States, sovereignty resides in the people…Congress cannot invoke sovereign power of the People to override their will as thus declared.”

Yick Wo v. Hopkins, 118 U.S. 356 (1886):

Sovereignty itself is, of course, not subject to law, for it is the author and source of law…while sovereign powers are delegated to…the government, sovereignty itself remains with the People.

Quotes on Governmental powers

THOMAS JEFFERSON: “Who will govern the governors? There is only one force in the nation that can be depended upon to keep the government pure and the governors honest, and that is the people themselves. They alone, if well informed, are capable of preventing the corruption of power, and of restoring the nation to its rightful course if it should go astray. They alone are the safest depository of the ultimate powers of government.”

GEORGE WASHINGTON: “The power under the Constitution will always be in the people. It is entrusted for certain defined purposes, and for a certain limited period, to representatives of their own choosing; and whenever it is executed contrary to their interest, or not agreeable to their wishes, their servants can and undoubtedly will be recalled.”

THOMAS JEFFERSON: “On every question of construction [let us] carry ourselves back to the time when the Constitution was adopted, recollect the spirit manifested in the debates, and instead of trying what meaning may be squeezed out of the text or invented against it, conform to the probably one in which it was passed.”

JAMES MADISON (Federalist 51): If angels were to govern men, neither external nor internal controls on government would be necessary. In framing a government which is to be administered by men over men, the great difficulty lies in this: you must first enable the government to control the governed; and in the next place oblige it to control itself.”

PLATO: “The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”

JAMES MADISON. “I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments by those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.”

GEORGE WASHINGTON: “Government is not reason; it is not eloquence; it is force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master.”

THOMAS JEFFERSON: “Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have…The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases.”

Quotes on Providence

GEORGE WASHINGTON: “The federal Constitution [adoption process]…., should everything proceed with harmony and consent according to our actual wishes and expectations…, will demonstrate as visibly the finger of Providence, as any possible event in the course of human affairs can ever designate it.”

DANIEL WEBSTER: “[Concerning] my devotion to the Constitution…, I regard it as the work of the purest patriots and wisest statesmen that ever existed, aided by the smiles of a benignant Providence…: it almost appears a divine interposition in our behalf.”

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN: “I have so much faith in the general government of the world by Providence, that I can hardly conceive a transaction of such momentous importance to the welfare of millions…should be suffered to pass without being in some degree influence, guided and governed by that omnipotent, omnipresent and beneficent Ruler.”

Quotes on Preserving the Principles

DANIEL WEBSTER. “I am committed…to the Constitution of the country….And I am committed against every thing, which, in my judgment, ay weaken, endanger, or destroy it…; and especially against all extension of Executive power: and I am committed against any attempt to rule the free people of this country by the power and the patronage of the government itself….”

DANIEL WEBSTER. “It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions….There are men, in all ages…who mean to govern well; but they mean to govern. They promise to be kind masters; but they mean to be masters….They think there need be but little restraint upon themselves…. The love of power may sink too deep in their own hearts….”

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “In questions of power, then, let no more be heard of confidence in man, but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

JOHN ADAMS. “I first saw the Constitution of the United States in a foreign county…. I read it with great satisfaction, as the result of good heads prompted by good hearts…. I have repeatedly laid myself under the most serious obligations to support the Constitution…. What other form of government, indeed, can so well deserve our esteem and love?”

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “I, however, place economy among the first and most important republican virtues, and public debt as the greatest of dangers to be feared. To preserve our independence, we must not let our rulers load us with perpetual debt…. I am for a government rigorously frugal and simple.”

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “The price of freedom is eternal vigilance.”

Quotes on Guarding Virtue & Freedom

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN. “Only a virtuous people are capable of freedom. As nations become corrupt and vicious, they have more need of masters.”

JOHN ADAMS. “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”

SAMUEL ADAMS. “The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy the gift of heaven, let us become a virtuous people; then shall we both deserve and enjoy it. While, on the other hand, if we are universally vicious and debauched in our manners, though the form of our Constitution carries the face of the most exalted freedom, we shall in reality be the most abject slaves.”

GEORGE WASHINGTON (farewell address). ” Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labour to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them…. Let it simply be asked, where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of moral and religious obligations desert the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice?”

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “We in America do not have government by the majority–we have government by the majority who participate…. All tyranny needs to gain a foothold is for people of good conscience to remain silent.”

Quotes on Educating the People

JAMES MADISON. “A well-instructed people alone can be permanently a free people.”

GEORGE WASHINGTON. “A primary object…should be the education of our youth in the science of government. In a republic, what species of knowledge can be equally important? And what duty more pressing…than communicating it to those who are to be the future guardians of the liberties of the county?”

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “I know of no safe depository of the ultimate powers of society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion [freedom of choice], the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power.”

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “Say…whether peace is best preserved by giving energy to the government, or information to the people. This last is the most certain and the most legitimate engine of government. Educate and inform the whole mass of the people. Enable them to see that is is their interest to preserve peace and order, and they will preserve them. And it requires no very high degree of education to convince them of this. They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “The good sense of the people will always be found to be the best army. They may be led astray for a moment, but will soon correct themselves.”

“Where the people fear the government you have tyranny; where the government fears the people you have liberty.”

THOMAS JEFFERSON. “…In questions of power, let no more be heard of confidence in man but bind him down from mischief by the chains of the Constitution.”

ABRAHAM LINCOLN. “America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.”
